How do I convert point cloud to a 3D model using AutoCAD 2017

Hello CAD Answers

I need to convert point cloud generated by a scanner to a 3D model, how can I achieve this, AutoCAD is not mandatory, I just thought that it’s the thing to do the job.

I am empty here can anybody suggest anything?

Hi there,

 

I have no idea how to do this in AutoCAD itself but there are several options out there that does the same thing you are asking:

AutoDesk ReCap is a free cloud based service – http://www.autodesk.com/products/recap-360/overview

PhotoScan is another option that uses photogrammetry to compile a modifiable 3D object from 360 Photos of an object – http://www.agisoft.com

 

I’ll post the differences as soon as I come home; but I had been successful with Photoscan more that with Recap
