For what it’s worth – if readers aren’t using AutoCAD – We wrote a help article over at Scan2CAD for this question where I list some of the ways of converting custom fonts to polylines with common graphic design software: Converting a design with custom fonts

By the way, it seems that you’re just seeing a simple Excel formatting issue. This post explains that converting
1:1000 to 0.736111111 can commonly happen if you have your cell formatting set incorrectly.
This seems to be the solution so I’m going to resolve the question – let us know if you’re still having issues.

I believe your question is ‘how best to learn AutoCAD as a new user’ rather than ‘how to start the software’.
We’ve had similar questions in the past. Here’s related answers:
- What are the best AutoCAD learning resources
- Solved: Can anyone recommend a good site for AutoCAD tutorials?
Good luck!

Hmm.. that’s pretty complex! There’s a lot of math that goes into placing objects in the correct positions to reduce material waste.
If it does exist it would be a very specialist solution, most likely designed for a specific manufacturing company for their specific requirements . Bear in mind manufacturing-grade nesting software can get very expensive.
If it’s something you badly need, I would recommend speaking to a Nesting software developer like SigmaNest. Ask them if they offer such a solution.

If you’ve already made the Custom profile you can launch AutoCAD to run that profile, you just need to define it as a text string.
1. Right click the AutoCAD icon > select ‘Properties’ > Shortcut tab
2. In the ‘Target’ box enter ‘/p’ followed by the profile name. For example:
"C:\Program Files\AutoCAD\acad.exe" /p "profile-name"
(including the quote marks)3. Save the setting. AutoCAD will launch with this new profile in the future.
Note: These steps would be for Windows only.

Hey Sky07,
According to a post I published on scan2cad.com – the GTX 1080 is suitable for AutoCAD. Source: https://www.scan2cad.com/cad/cad-graphics-card/
That’s a higher model than the 1050 but I would guess that it would work.
However, you need to be wary of using a gaming graphics card for CAD. The best recommendation would be to use a CAD graphics card for CAD.
Are you intending on using this laptop for more than just CAD work?
