I’ve had experience with Upwork.com and I’ve gotten a lot of long-term clients from there. Lately though, the freelancer market there has been getting very competitive and I’m not too sure how the experience will be for those that are just starting up. I think I was just lucky I got in before it got too saturated.

I briefly tried Freelancer.com as well but found it’s much easier to just focus on Upwork instead of dividing my attention among other freelancer websites.

Additionally, I have a bunch of colleagues who also use Fiverr.com and from what I understand, the site is mainly for one-off gigs and not really long-term committed positions.

    Here’s a site I found off of a quick Google search: https://grabcad.com/library/software/step-slash-iges

But if you’re really not having any luck with these STEP websites, you could try visiting file database sites of other file formats (CAD, SketchUP, DXF, DWG, etc.) and then figure out a way to convert those files into STEP.

I think it depends on the extent of the CAD work you intend to do on the go. An iPad has great portability but has limited options when it comes to CAD software. A laptop is always a smart option but can also be limited in the sense that you’ll need to find a desk to sit on and probably a charging port if you’re planning to do a lot of work, so portability can be limited.

In the end, it depends on what you’re planning to do with the machine. What exactly are your CAD needs?

You’ll find a bunch of reliable video courses on VBA online – I’d recommend looking through Lynda, Skillshare, and Udemy. If you want to go the free route, you can try Youtube video tutorials as well – a lot of them are great resources and are almost as good as any paid video courses online.

What about the question or image do you need help with? Is there anything you find confusing?

The good news is, SketchUp actually has that option natively when you export files. The bad news – it’s only for SketchUp Pro users.

If you’re looking for a free option, I believe Blender can open up SketchUp files and save them as DWG files.

Unfortunately, you can’t open up any DWG files that were saved by a more recent version of AutoCAD. You can, however, down save! Just save your file on AutoCAD 2018 as an AutoCAD 2016 file or earlier.

The fastest way I can think of is to copy the whole thing, trim out the circle so that just the arc you need to measure is left, and then check out the Arc length in the Properties panel.

You might be able to get away with watching tutorials for just AutoCAD, there are a bunch of available videos for that. AutoCAD Mechanical has all the same functionalities as AutoCAD.

If the text objects are in the paper space themselves, you’ll have to move them one by one unfortunately. If the text is in model space and can be seen on your paper space drawings through viewports, then moving the text in model space should reflect in all of the paper spaces where the viewport is present.
