How Do I trace a 3D Model from an Image in Google Sketchup 2017?

Can I like draw a 3D model using a picture as a model?

A friend of mine told me that it’s possible and that Sketchup has a great tool helping in exactly this same situation…

So How do I do that?

Google earth can be imported into SketchUp.

1. You can preview your model in Google Earth

2. You can import Google Earth Files (.kmz) into SketchUp

3. You can add a “geo location” to your model which will bring Google Earth landscape into SketchUp — you can then model on top of it, and I think there is one extension that can help you create buildings from it. But you can quickly model from a google earth image

SketchUp has a nice “Match Photo” tool that should help with this. It doesn’t automatically create the model for you, but it lines up your reference photo with your 3D model so that you can model right over it. Just access Camera > Match New Photo.
