How do I show the metric units (centimeters) for dimensions in AutoCAD?
My drawing is in meters and centimeters. I can’t understand how I can display the ‘cm’ units against the dimensions in my drawing. If I choose the ‘Dimension Style’ as ‘Architectural’ it incorrectly adds the inches unit (“).
Is this even possible with AutoCAD?
To implement dual dimensioning, it is necessary to create a new dimension style and then apply that dimension style to the dimensions that need to be displayed in metric. The current dimensions need to be displayed in decimal form. This example shows how to convert dimensions that are currently displayed in inches to display in millimeters (mm).
- On the Dimension menu, click Style.
- In the Dimension Style Manager, click New.
- In the New Dimension Style dialog box, select a Name, Start With Style, and select Use For: All Dimensions. Click Continue.
- On the Primary Units tab, enter mm in the Suffix box and set the Scale Factor to 25.4 (there are 25.4 mm per inch).
- Click OK, and then click Close.
- In the drawing, select the dimensions that you want to be displayed in millimeters.
- Right-click and click Properties on the shortcut menu.
- Expand the Misc category.
- Select Dim Style, and then click the list of dimension styles and select the dimension style that you just created.
The selected dimensions are now displayed in millimeters.
