Solved: Problem Plotting To PDF – Ghost Ellipses
Hey all, hoping someone can help me!
So I have been having a weird issue with plotting some of my sheets to PDF all of a sudden. In the above image, you can see what I am talking about.
For some reason all the sheets I plot will print out small little ellipses in the PDF regardless if the layer they are on are hidden or frozen. It will appear in every sheet that the ellipse is in from the base plan. On the paper space, they don’t show up at all, but when you plot to PDF (I have tried various different PDF Writers already) they all come up like that.
For example, I have some chair blocks that you can see and the blocks themselves have little ellipse edges on them and they will appear throughout the entire drawing even if the layer they are on are frozen. Similarly, the ellipse shapes on the trash container blocks will show up on each of the sheets as well. This is seemingly happening to every single one of my drawings and sheets. The link above is an image of what I am talking about. I am using AutoCAD Architecture 2017 by the way.
If anyone knows how to fix this, or if you have any idea what is causing this, I would really appreciate the help because I am losing hair over this! Thank you all for taking the time!
Hi there,
This issue has been addressed in HotFix 1
“This hotfix 1 addressed Layers of Xrefs that are frozen in viewports are plotting ellipses, model documentation commands not working in some languages, the number of hits for GetLineContainment being incorrectly counted, and Xrefs showing as needing reloading when opened from a network path to a shared folder.”
You can find it here :

You could also install the other 2 hotfixes while you are there:
HotFix 2:
HotFix 3:
Hope this helps 🙂
Maybe you can check out the page setup or the PLOT options;
Here’s a tutorial on how to export ot PDFs
What’s the difference between plotting and exporting? I know plotting is used to describe the movement of X-Y Axis in the printer
