Is there a way to do ‘nesting’ in AutoCAD, the same as you can do in CNC/CAM software?

This doesn’t ship in AutoCAD but AutoDesk has a separate application called TruNest which achieves this.

Why isn’t this in AutoCAD? Nintendo had nesting in 1984!

Yep, as Lukek said – TruNest is what you’re looking for.

Here’s the full features page http://www.autodesk.com/products/trunest/features/all

There’s a bunch of video demonstrations on that page which are handy if you’re new to it.

You should also be aware that there’s 3 versions of TruNest. Here’s a screenshot of the comparison table.
