How do you change the background color in AutoCAD?

Is it possible to change the background color in AutoCAD from the default black/dark color?

It can be hard to see black vectors with this dark background.

After clicking the Application button (the AutoCAD logo button), click on Options.  Under the Display tab, you’ll find Colors. Click on that and a dialog box opens up where you can adjust all the color settings of AutoCAD including the background color. If you ever want to go to the default color settings, just click on Restore.

Also, if you don’t mind me asking, is there any particular reason you’re using black vectors? The color of the vector lines don’t necessarily have to be the color of the printed lines; that’s something you can set on the print preference before you plot out your AutoCAD file.
