if in AutoCAD you can use the “FLATTEN” command to flatten the 3D object to 2D and then export it to your chose location

Well what program are you using?

if you are asking about a mechanical package such as solidworks or Inventor;

you can easily export your work drawing by converting the 3D object into a drawing

Click file->New->Drawing->Place your view

Place your Side view, plan and elevation

Put in your dimensions

and save your file

you can also export as PDF as required

even a more neat feature is that you can export as a 3D PDF where the user can actually fly around your object looking at it from all directions without even having to install any other tool other than A standard PDF viewer

My two default programs are AutoCAD and SketchUp. I’ve found SketchUp flattens most 3D models into usable 2D formats very effectively. It’s all a matter of angling the view of the 3D model and then using the Export command to export a 2D vector file format of the view (.dwg, .dxf, and various raster image formats).
