Solved: AutoCAD write protecting files when saving?

When working in AutoCAD 2010 from time to time I hit the save button and the program says my file is now write protected. Then I have to use save-as and my design master program doubles things in the database. Does anyone know why is AutoCAD is doing this?

If another user on your network has the file open before you it will show up as read only or write protected when you open it.
This is so only one person can work on it at a time.

If the file is write protected (not open by someone else) it has probably been protected in windows.
You will need to right click on its icon in windows, select PROPERTIES in the menu that pops up, and click the write protected option to un-check it.

Be aware that someone may have write protected it for a reason and does not want any changes made.
