AutoDesk do have a comparison page at https://www.autodesk.com/products/autocad/compare-releases
It seems to be structured to show the difference between whatever the current release is vs. older supported releases.
The above page currently compares versions back to AutoCAD 2016.

You need to add a pattern to the selected object.
You start by selecting the options you wish to apply and then select the object and apply.
1. First, select Hatch, located at: Home Tab > Draw Panel > Hatch.
2. Choose the Hatch you want in the Properties panel > Hatch Type list,.
3. Select whether you want a hatch pattern or fill in the Pattern panel.
4. Now select the boundary option in the Boundaries panel. In your case you’ll probably need ‘Select Boundary Objects.’ meaning it will apply to any closed object selected.
5. Select the object you wish to hatch an area or object to be hatched.
6. Hit Enter on your keyboard to apply the hatching to the selected object.

I think have done this before,
I like to use Microsoft PowerPoint just because it’s easy and gets the job done
First things first, you need to enable developer options in power point:
Office button>PowerPoint Options>Popular, and check the Show Developer Tab.
Then :
- Office button>PowerPoint Options>Trust Center>Trust Center Settings button>ActiveX Settings, and choose the third option, Prompt Me before Enabling All Controls with Minimal Restrictions.
- In PowerPoint 2003, right-click any toolbar and choose Control Toolbox to display that toolbar. Then click the More Controls button. In PowerPoint 2007, choose Developer tab>Controls group>More Controls.
- From the list that appears, choose Autodesk DWF Viewer Control. (In PowerPoint 2007 only, click OK.) Drag diagonally on the slide to specify a bounding box for the AutoCAD drawing.
And voila there’s your drawing
Let me know if you get stuck in any of the steps I know I am not very good when it comes to steps 😀

If you are trying to hatch a closed section:
Set HPGAPTOL to a number(drawing unit) from 0 ->5000 (0 for no gaps, 5000 to a drawing full of hatching I guess 😀 😀 😀 ) ; what this does is that it sets the maximum size of a gap to ignore

Check out this bad boy
You no longer have to use a mouse to model any character/tree/fountain or anything else imaginable; you just sculpt away your imagination and the character comes to life; I have always wanted to have one of those, 2 hours modeling can be done in a simple 20 minutes or so.
